OUR STORY

Mount Pleasant Herbary was founded in the spring of 2009 by Gudrun Feigl. The Herbary is located in the rolling hills of Wayne County, 20 minutes North of Honesdale in Mount Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania. In "History of Wayne County" which was originally published in 1880, Mount Pleasant Township is called the "Switzerland of Pennsylvania". Today our 2-acres farm is still surrounded by open farm land and wildflower meadows.

After moving from Germany to the US in 2002, Gudrun desperately missed the wide selection of herbal tea blends she could choose from in her home country - so she started to grow her own. Shortly after, she added botanical soaps,  salves, foot baths, and other herbal creations to her product line.

After selling her botanical products at local Farmer's Markets and Art Shows for seven years, Gudrun opened her first  Brick & Mortar store in September of 2016. It is located in historic Honesdale at picturesque Maude Alley.

Our Story

All herbs used in our products - with the exception of Lavender - are grown organically in the Mount Pleasant Herbary Garden in Wayne County, PA. Lavender Buds for Sachets and Therapeutic Pillows are purchased from organic suppliers.

Starting in early spring, we start preparing our herb beds for the season. Herbs are being clipped several times throughout the growing season, then put on screens to dry in the drying shed. The dried herbs are then either blended together into herbal teas, ground up for our soaps, or used in infusions for herbal salves.
